Some Other Sights of London

Ceremony and tradition are important parts of Lon­don life.

For example, hundreds of people gather every morning to watch the traditional “changing of the guard’ in front of Buckingham Palace, where the royal family lives.

The guards are dressed in bright red uniforms. One team of guards replaces another in a military ceremony.

London is also famous for its theatres, concert halls and museums. In the late 1500s, William Shakespeare wrote his plays for a theatre in London. Since then, many other great writers have lived in London. The city has long been a favourite place for musicians.
